Long past in the year 1904, Abhayeswari H.E. School took its birth at Abhayapuri town under the patronage of her highness the late queen Abhayeswari of the then Bijni Raj Estate. Within a few spans of time, this school was able to achieve the recognition & appreciation from the Calcutta University. In the year 1956, when the town was under the management of the then Bijni Raj Estate government, some of indigenous people put their demand to make this school a purely government school. But ultimately the school was placed under deficit system of grant in Aid by the Education department of Assam w.e.f. 01-03-1959 and also at the same time a development committee was formed for the management of the school. In 1962 this school was upgraded to the status of Higher Secondary school and the school was renamed as Abhayeswari Higher Secondary and Multipurpose school by introducing two streams, i.e. Science and Arts. The school was also benefitted with the Vocational Stream in the higher secondary section in 1989 which offered two course trades as Computer Technique and Accountancy & Auditing. This school got provincialised accordingly in 1977. In the year 2015, the department of secondary education, Assam has introduced two new subjects - Information Technology and Retail Trade for Class IX and now it has been upgraded to higher secondary standard. The school crossed the line of hundred years in the year 2004. During this long journey of the school in the field of education, the institution has succeeded in bringing glory and fame in various state and district level performances by the students of the school. Time and again, students from this school have brought enormous pride to this institution by excelling in academics and have been flourishing in their respected field of work in India and abroad.

Abhayeswari HS & MP school is the prestigious Institution founded by the queen Abhayeswari of the then Bijni Raj Estate to establish education to all round of the society without distinction of race, religion, caste or social status. Till today it provides unique opportunities for the development of the young minds in a secular and conducive atmosphere. The aim of education always aims at an individual and a collective aspect achievement. Ever since 1904, the endeavor of our school has been towards the achievement of these aim. Our importance has always been to ascertain that students are not only given better academic knowledge, but also develop their individual potentiality so that they are moulded to be good leaders and citizens who can harmonize with other members of the society.

Abhayeswari H.S. & M.P. School is situated in Abhayapuri town. Abhayapuri is a town with a historic background as then capital of Bijni Raj Estate and now the headquarter of North Salmara civil Sub-Division in the state of Assam. Abhayapuri is situated in geographical coordinates of Latitude 90° 40’ 0” East and Longitude 26° 20’ 0” North ; surrounded by natural forests and hills. It is located on the National Highway 31, about 200 KM from Guwahati, the capital city of Assam. Nearest airport is Rupsi Airport in Dhubri district near of Gouripur about 90 KM from Abhayapuri and Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport at Guwahati about 190 KM from Abhayapuri. Abhayapuri railway Station connects Abhayapuri town with Guwahati through south bank of Brahmaputra and with nearest Railway Junction station of New Bongaigaon. A Distance of about 20 KM between Abhayapuri and Bongaigaon gives easy communication from New Bongaigaon Railway Jn. station which connects Assam to other parts of India. Road distance of Abhayapuri from Guwahati - through South bank of Brahmaputra is about 190 km ; through NH 31 is about 200 km and through Barpeta town, the distance between Abhayapuri and Guwahati is about 135 km.
